Help to Stop Smoking - Getting Motivated to Quit, Again - Part 1

Every smoker needs help to stop smoking. Self help: let's call that Motivation!

If you have tried to quit and gave up more than once, don't think you have no more motivation at all. Oh yes, I've been there myself.

Sometimes a sad news like a friend just die from cigarettes side effects wake the motivation up inside ourself. Other times, it may be because we get a bad cold and recognize that we are having more trouble shaking it and recovering from it than we should.

Repeated bouts of bronchitis or allergies get us thinking long and hard. Even so, if stopping smoking is not something we really want to undertake, then what are the chances we'll succeed ?

Please do the following exercise. Open the notepad or another word editing software, or even get a sheet of paper.

Please minimize this actual window, and do just that. This is not a complicated exercise, though you should really do it to start building your stop smoking plan.

You want to stop smoking for negative reasons and for positive reasons. What are those motivators behind your choice to stop smoking?

Begin to list all your negative motivators, the ones that irritates you, "People notice the smell of smoke when I'm around" is an example of negative motivator.

Perhaps they criticize you for smoking, or being singled out when you leave the building to smoke is embarrassing for you. Maybe that embarrass you to be out of breath all the time. These negative motivators may be yours, don't limit yourself.

When this list of negative reasons is done, make a list of all your positive reasons for stopping smoking. How does your non-smoker life looks like ?. Your close ones would certainly be proud of you.

Maybe you want to protect your family from second-degree smoke. You want to live better and longer, you want to be proud of yourself to accomplish this challenge.

So what are you positive motivators ? Write down your list. Keep that list with the list of fears you made.
